StateFoodSafety.com/AboveTraining Inc Becomes First Training Provider to Receive Required California Food Handler Accreditation

Orem, UT (PRWEB) September 27, 2011

Governor Brown signed senate Bill 303, the revised California Food Handler Law on September 6, 2011. The bill, which amended Senate Bill 602, mandates that food handler training programs be accredited by the American National Standards Institute(ANSI). The bill, which has been more than nine months in the making, mandates training for all food handlers in retail food facilities and represents a forward step in food safety and consumer protection.

AboveTraining Inc./StateFoodSafety.com? was actively involved with the crafting of SB 303, and was the first food handler training program to receive accreditation from ANSI as required by California Senate Bill 303. This bill, authored by Senator Alex Padilla, requires food handler training providers receive the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accreditation ASTM e2659. This rigorous accreditation ensures consistent, instructionally sound training and measures all aspects of an organization to ensure ethical conduct and best practice implementation. With the passing of SB 303, until Jan 1, 2012, food handlers can receive training from an ASTM e2659 accredited training provider or a food protection manager certification organization. After Jan 1, 2012, only ASTM e2659 accredited organizations can provide food handler training.

?The passage of SB 303 is an important step in food safety and consumer protection. We all enjoy eating out and it is comforting to know that the people working with our food will receive proper instruction on how to prevent foodborne illness,? said Christie H. Lewis, Ph.D., President of StateFoodSafety.com.
